Yes! Although that is one of things that made it good for most fans, it focused on the boys where, arguable, it should be. It was no accident in the previous ep that Kripke and others emphasized that Sam and Dean were the center of the show.

Oh yes, thank you for reminding me! I've had "Brothers in Arms" looping in the background of my head all day. I just realized it when you named it. And you're right, it was perfect in that moment.

The barn scene I still tear up just thinking about it the emotions in that scene it was heartbreaking and perfect and the ending with the two of them in heaven. I am still not over the look on Dean's face when he felt Sam arrive and oh the way Dean looked at Sam when he had his arm around him just finished me. Sure there were flaws but for me, our boys were together in the end and you could feel the emotions Jared and Jensen poured into the scenes I can't even imagine what it must have been like for them in the barn scene where Dean is telling Sam everything and the I love you always destroyed me.

I am loving over on my twitter and tumblr people I am following are comparing Sam and Dean's ending to that of Jack and Rose's ending from Titanic. Sam like Rose lived his life because that is what Dean wanted and when the time came he was reunited forever with the other half of his soul. Dean was Sam's Jack to his Rose.

Two really interesting points were brought out up twitter.

Dean had been applying for a job. All he had to do was sign the contract. That's the bunch of papers that were sitting in his room. So this could have arguably been his last hunt.

And secondly, the clothes the boys wore in heaven were the same clothes they wore in S1E1. I was wondering at Sam's hoodie, where I'd seen it before, it seemed so out of place for his later clothes, but that was why. I guess that had been Jared's idea.

Oh, and the boys came up with the pie in the face on the fly. And I'm pretty sure that was Robert Singer in the background laughing. Maybe it was supposed to be an outtake, but they ended up using it.

I have a lot of thoughts about the finale, but I'm not really ready to write them all up. I can sum it up with it could have been worse, it could have been better. The thing that bothers me most, I think, is that Dean was cheated out of a loving relationship with his nephew. Can you imagine Dean with a nephew to love and spoil? That would have been so sweet.

I also must say, as touching as Dean's goodbye was,,, LONGEST. DEATH MONOLOGUE. EVER.

That is a really EXCELLENT point. Because a lot of people tuned in to see the ending. And watching it again, you really don't have to have watched the show for years and it still works. Kind of comforting.

Yep. All of this. Especially your point about the random, stupid and believable accident like hunters fall to, that harked back to a previous 'death'. Because remember the taser electrocution in 'Faith'. It was a normal death that Chuck would not have allowed him to have. I agree completely.

I skipped the last question because for me it was considerably better than 'could've been worse', but not perfect.
My quibbles, though, were fairly minor. Like most people, I thought they did a poor job of aging Sam up (the deathbed aging was alright, but the younger aging was soooo bad) and the whole 'wife' situation was...weird. No screen time, one blurry image, no photos in the house, but Sam was still wearing the wedding ring on his deathbed, so it's not like they divorced or something. Mostly though, I thought the episode hit the right notes and I've been an emotional wreck ever since I watched it...the J's performances were outstanding! 💔

I was hoping so badly that Eileen would turn up pregnant so Dean could be the Most Adorable Uncle ever. Even if he died much later in the episode, it still would have been so sweet. Dean is Nephew's partner in crime. When Sam and Eileen say no more cookies, no more pizza, no more soda, go to bed, Dean sneaks in his nephew's room at midnight with all those things, they make a bed fort and watch movies. Dean helps Nephew draw on his walls with crayons. He teaches Nephew how to drive at 13. He makes Sam shake his head and sigh, but put up with it because Sam knows Dean loves his kid as much as he does. Dean is always showing off pictures of him. Etc.

I'm very disappointed they didn't see the potential in this. I'll probably write this fanfic.

My personal opinion is that Castiel didn't make things quiet for the Cosmic Being in The Empty, so when Jack showed up, it gladly let Jack take him. Then it could go back to sleep, and it was probably a little afraid of Jack now, with all his new power. That's what I think they were trying to imply.

I just want to know why Sam only had one kid. I guess it could be circumstances, but wouldn't you think someone with such a strong relationship with his brother would try to provide his own kid with a brother? Or a sister?

I have a friend whose sister died when they were in their twenties. She named her daughter after her, about twelve years later. After six months, they changed the baby's name because my friend couldn't call her by her sister's name. I had kind of forgotten this, but this episode reminded me of it.

I didn't think the lung, because I felt that would make it almost impossible to talk but I thought he definitely felt it squishing through one or some of his organs, maybe spleen or liver or such and may be able to feel blood pooling. *Shudders* I did think that make up probably should have made him a lot paler in the circumstances but aesthetics I guess, those moments will be shared a lot so keep Dean pretty for them.

There's a post I saw on Tumblr where Jared says that they were trying to recreate Sam's S1 clothes, but that gray sweatshirt Sam is wearing after Dean's death looks like the one Dean was wearing earlier. in the bunker, which is kind of heartbreaking. (Like my mom wore my dad's robe for years after he died.)

The pie in the face was great! It really did recall prankster Sam from so long ago when the boys weren't weighed down by the troubles of the world. That did look like Singer!

I don't know why, but I feel as though the son wasn't planned, and Sam and this woman became a couple to raise the child because they liked each other well enough. I think circumstances of which there could be many that prevented a sibling -- everything from fertility issues to actual health maternal problems. We see her only once as a blurry figure in the background, which says so much, but I think she may have died when the son was relatively young. That may be why we don't see her again. She is a complete mystery. How did Sam meet her? Was she a hunter? A woman he saved from a monster? Maybe a librarian in a random town? I kind of like that idea, and the sad pink dress would certainly work with that. LOL

That is so sad about your friend. Grief is so powerful.
